What is something good, not super expensive, special clothes to bikes?

I found relatively cheap vests that have received the most comments I found the Top-of-the-line Dainese gear, and I found MOTOCROSS / quad armor that looks cool and the price is right, but I do not know if it is evaluated by the highway A-Accident speed on the pavement. I am completely new to the sport bike scene and I do not know if things are cheap enough, or if I take the route of "It's my health, I spend so much money as possible to get the best possible protection. You get what you pay. I like Cordura 500 denier / GORE-TEX armored touring arts (which happens to be locally made). Do not travel in sport however, where fashion seems to be more important than security;)
